Why avoiding these 5 habits will ruin your life

Why avoiding these 5 habits will ruin your life

The formula for a brutal life…

A few years ago, I was heading over to my local Taco Bell.

I had just completed a multi-hour Conan binge, and serious case of the munchies ensued.

So I hopped into my Japanese chariot, cinnamon twists on the brain.

I didn’t know it at the time — but my life was about to change.

How?

Sadly, not with copious amounts of fire sauce.

I actually never made it to the drive thru.

Instead, my aging vehicle suffered a heart attack in the middle of a strip mall parking lot.

And as the clock struck midnight…

I was alone.

Too unfit to ward off bandits.

And hungry.

Rock bottom.

But also an awakening.

Over the next few days, I realized that decisions have the power to create an attractive or unattractive life.

There’s only ever two options.

Easy or hard.

Guess which one unsuccessful people pick?

Fortunately, there’s five simple habits that flip the whole script.

Here’s what you need to do…

Lift heavy metal

the “easy” choice: stay unattractive

If you’re struggling with your dating life…

This one rings twice as true.

For men, an attractive physique accounts for 80% of physical attraction.

So as long as you don’t skip workouts…

You win.

Keep these core principles in mind:

  • Lift 3–4x/week
  • Regular cardio
  • Clean eats

And you probably already know this.

Most men have the knowledge, but struggle with consistency.

Here’s a trick:

Social contracts.

This is where you sign a document with a close friend stating the conditions of your glow up.

For example:

“Dear Mr. Dwayne, if I fail to visit the gymnasium 3x this week, I will compensate you $100 in cash.”

Incorporate a hefty penalty for defeat, and you’re instantly more likely to follow through.

Dedicate one hour to solopreneurship

the “easy” choice: 9–5 until 65

Which sounds better?

Commuting to a sad grey cubicle until you’re grey?

Or working whenever you want, wherever you want.

To me — it’s a no brainer.

Start building ownership.

And I get it.

We all have bills to pay.

But you’re never going to be FREE renting out your time.

Naval’s tweet storm is the nail in the coffin for this.

The most accessible path to reach financial independence is by creating an online brand.

One hour at a time.

How?

Leverage your skills through scalable endeavors.

  • Writing
  • YouTube
  • Podcasting

Just to name a few.

Find something where one hour of work can attract millions.

That’s where the new rich are made.

No more bossman.

Write your own ticket to summers on the Amalfi Coast.

Go on a digital fast

the “easy” choice: waste time

Imagine someone gives you $16 to buy dinner.

Would you burn $8 for no reason?

It sounds silly.

But we commit more heinous acts everyday.

Time is our most valuable resource, yet we treat it like it’s renewable.

If you’re not careful, you might just spend your existence on a phone.

Everyone needs a waste-prevention plan.

Here’s what I do:

  1. Deactivate socials
  2. Block corn
  3. Schedule activities

The last step is important.

If you’re not replacing your newly earned time with confirmed plans, then relapse is likely.

The easiest way is to sign up for classes that cost money

Languages, martial arts, fitness groups…

There’s a lot out there.

Why not learn as much as you can?

Live IRL.

Read non-fiction

the “easy” choice: plateau indefinitely

I used to avoid books like broccoli.

Candy Crush over philosophy was the motto.

But thankfully, I recovered from my literary phobia.

I’ve read over 25 books this year.

How?

I started reading for ideas rather than completion.

Think about it…

From an early age, we’re all instructed to read every last page.

SparkNotes was a sin.

But this isn’t high school anymore.

APPLICATION is what counts.

There’s no point in reading “Atomic Habits” by James Clear if you’re not actually making changes.

So focus on applying what you learn from the greats.

Even if it’s only a single line.

Work on your social chops

the “easy” choice: involuntary monkhood

I didn’t realize this until my late 20s.

But life’s best moments are made with others.

Something as regular as going for a walk becomes unforgettable with the right people.

This is your sign to break out of the comfort zone

Move to your dream city.
Road trip with the bros.
Introduce yourself to attractive strangers.

Have fun.

There’s no downside.

And if you’ve forgotten how to socialize…

Join group activities.

Especially for introverts, these are low-pressure environments where everyone is open to mingle.

It could be salsa, kickball, rock climbing…

Anything.

The key is to hit pause on Netflix and make your life the movie.
